9/24/2023 0 Comments Drew breeze vs penn stateNon-disclosure agreements have been signed and there are countless rumors to chase. Great question, but one thing that’s become increasingly clear with reporting on NIL is the unwillingness of players, their families and businesses to disclose the details of their agreements. Would love to get your perspective on how Penn State is handling NIL and how you see it influencing the future of the program relative to its peers. Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen rushed for a combined 1,928 yards. They’ll need at least two more players to emerge, but going into a season with three ends they should feel strongly about is a nice starting point. Getting Adisa Isaac back for another year to pair with Chop Robinson and Dani Dennis-Sutton creates a strong trio. They complement each other so well, and Allar won’t need to be Superman right out of the gate with them lined up alongside him. Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen each had a case to be the Big Ten’s freshman of the year, the honor Singleton took home. On offense, it has to be the running backs. If you had to pick one positional group that will stand out the most this upcoming season, which would it be? - Adam G. Franklin’s contract in November 2021 doubled down on Penn State’s commitment to him. So far, all indications are that he’s been as good as advertised.Īfter how this past season went, with Penn State exceeding all expectations in a year that was supposed to be a bridge to 2023, there likely isn’t any extra pressure on Franklin. Meanwhile, the Nittany Lions identified Allar early on and brought him in to be the guy. Levis electing to move on worked out fine for both parties. Levis has a big arm, which makes him desirable at the next level, but Penn State just went 11-2 and won the Rose Bowl with Clifford. Clifford finished 28th in the FBS in passing efficiency (150.1) Levis finished 25th (151.9). He completed 65.4 percent of his passes for 2,406 yards with 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, plus two rushing touchdowns. If we look at this past season, Levis didn’t exactly light it up. The real crux of the matter is this: The revolving door of offensive coordinators impacted both quarterbacks. At times they’ll need him to take over a game, and that’s when we’ll learn just how special he might be. He will make some throws that will leave you wondering how he did it. I’d expect Allar to at least come close to those numbers, if not exceed the yardage and touchdowns. Having game film to study from last season will be invaluable too.Ĭlifford completed 226 of 351 passes this past season (64.4 percent) for 2,822 yards with 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions. There were throws Allar could get away with in high school that he knows he shouldn’t force at this level. The biggest thing with any quarterback is decision-making. Ideally, Allar would complete 65 percent or more of his passes. The Nittany Lions likely won’t need to be pass-heavy too often, and the offense should be balanced. I mention this because Penn State knows the run game will be a strength again, so I wouldn’t be stunned if Allar’s pass attempts are a little lower than some might like to see. So, realistically, what do I think? Sean Clifford attempted 30 or more passes just four times last season. He’s big, strong and able to move well for someone his size. The moment didn’t look too big for him during the opener at Purdue, and down the stretch he looked comfortable and made a few throws that showed flashes of that five-star billing. The glimpses everyone saw of Allar last season were promising.
